Summary:

The Corporate Banking analyst at Scotiabank – Global Banking and Markets (GBM-NY office), will assist more senior bankers in a variety of tasks related to the management of the client relationship.  Responsibilities range from the preparation of pitch books to the completion of annual reviews, compliance reports and borrower financial analysis.  Ultimately the goal is to be able to assess the borrower from a credit risk perspective and to begin to develop some client relationship tools as well.  The analyst  should be prepared to research risks related to the borrower/industry, identify prospecting opportunities, analyze potential lending solutions, assist in the preparation of credit requests,  review documentation and monito compliance.

 

Purpose:

The Corporate Banking analyst supports more senior officers in development and maintenance of business relationships and in the structuring and preparation of credit applications.   

 

Key Responsibilities:

Assist in preparation of credit presentations, conduct financial analysis and draft recommendations for review by more senior officers 
Assist in the management of loan portfolio including: annual credit reviews and deal requests, amendments, and restructurings.   In addition there may be coordination of account management with team members and Loan Administration Officers
Monitor client compliance
From time to time, work on special projects with his/her manager for reporting and regulatory purposes.
Help to ensure client files are complete and up to date
Assist in development of marketing materials for client presentations
And other responsibilities as assigned
 

Requirements:

Industry product expertise
Knowledge of finance and business in general.  May include lending and capital markets products and processes for execution of transactions
Client Solution Focus
Succinct analysis of key risks and mitigants for existing or proposed new business and structure transaction with supervision
Establish concise rationale supporting actions and recommendations
Conduct due diligence research on assigned accounts
Integrate product group material into client pitch books

Teamwork
Flexible to demands of workload and viewed as a valuable team resource
Promotes cooperation, teamwork, and professional internal and external relationships

Results Focused
Excellent writing and verbal skills with concise rationale supporting recommendations and actions

Qualifications:

Self-motivated, results focused, team player with strong learning ability
Team player with ability to learn quickly
Business Related degree in process.
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Financial modeling skills and accounting knowledge
Excellent computer skills (Excel, Word, Power Point)
